Singapore Trip

Happy New Year to all of ya!! I know its a bit late though..

My New Year celebrations were grand this time; I saw fireworks at Marina Bay, Singapore. Well, I had been promised of this Singapore trip for a long time now and was glad that we were finally going. So, as a part of the preparations I bought uber device... a Nokia N series! Suitcases were packed all thx to mom :-p; I do become lazy when I touch down home...

Our flight was pre-poned by a few hrs on 29th Dec to avoid the low visibility conditions. There was a bit of turbulence on the way but everything got in control and we landed safely in the Lion city. The airport was HUGE we had to walk on a series of travellators to finally reach the immigration counter. I was amazed to see innumerable duty free shops and the wide array of products on display. Thus assuring me that it was a good shopping destination :-p

During our 3 day visit we had decided to stay at Marina Mandarin which was quite near to airport and to Marina Square for obvious reasons. We had a comfortable stay there. The hotel like the airport was also HUGE and had a delightful ambiance! After a nights rest we set out to explore the city.

DAY 1- SENTOSA
It took Mom & Papa nearly an hour to drag me out of the bed. After the daily ablutions and with an empty tummy we set out. We decided to take MRT to Harbourfront and from there cover the rest of the way by the cable car. It took us a while to finally reach the MRT station and to get accustomed to the ticketing. Since this was my first trip to a foreign land not to count Nepal and Mauritius in that; so everything was new and fascinating for me! Thx to the Delhi metro which has educated us a bit on this front otherwise even getting through the bars to reach the platform would have also made us look like fools...hehehehe...
So after reaching Harbourfront we took out our S$3 deposit on the three tickets and made our way on the escalators to reach a local food court. To give our empty stomachs a treat we ordered some rice with some chicken curry!! Well, we had ordered that but I can't really say that we were given that!!..Mom & Papa also had juice to gulp down the food!

We were then trying to locate the ticketing counter for the cable cars but all we saw was this HUGE line with almost 200 people queuing up!! Some price to pay for going in the peak tourist season. Finally after nearly an hour long wait we got our tickets issued.

At Sentosa, we first went to the UNDERWATER WORLD oceanarium home to more than 2,500 fishes from 250 different species. On travellator in the tunnel we saw and clicked pictures of the marine creatures. It was fascinating the way the place has been constructed.

Our next stop was CINEMANIA and Papa and I really enjoyed the ride in our computer-synchronised motion seats!! We were going literally at breakneck speed and those unexpected turns, halts, bumps, jolts made the ride even more thrilling! Its one experience I can boast of! Though I left my seat happy after the 10mins ride complaining it got over so soon ; Mom was glad that it was over.

We then went to the BUTTERFLY PARK.... well, no doubt the place was beautiful but wasn't of much interest to me but anyhow we clicked some nice pics there.

Lastly we went to see the MUSICAL FOUNTAINS and the laser show which Masarji had highly recommended. It was awesome. The theme- Magical Sentosa!! They had made it a beautiful
mix of colours, animated characters with rhythmically synchronized rising and falling of the water fountains. Kiki, the animated monkey of Sentosa was simply adorable.
